This fine antique George I sterling silver tobacco box has a plain oval rounded form.
The surface of the box is plain and embellished with fine engraved circular motifs and leaf decoration to the cover hinge.
The flush hinged hallmarked cover is ornamented with the contemporary engraved inscription 'Richard Smart' to the centre, in addition to a simplified engraved shell and scrolling leaf design to the shaped thumbpiece.
