This fine and impressive vintage brooch has been crafted in 18 ct yellow gold with a 18ct white gold setting.
The brooch has been modelled in the form of a three-dimensional gondola with two passengers and a gondolier.
The bow and base of the gondola is represented by thirty-six 18ct white gold set pavé set eight cut diamonds.
The gondola's stern sweep design incorporates sixteen claw set garnets and a single ruby, all round faceted cut.
The design is further ornamented with two simplified embracing passengers/figures, crafted in 18ct yellow gold.
The brooch secures to the reverse with a double pin fastening, with the larger pin benefitting from a trombone catch.
This vintage gondola brooch is hallmarked to the reverse of the setting with the French 18ct fineness mark (eagle's head), to the underside of the gondola the maker's mark (GAIN LUCA) and to the hinge fastening the French patent mark (DEPOSE).
This impressive vintage 1950s brooch is supplied with an independent diamond and gemstone grading report card.
