Sterling Silver Vinaigrette - Antique George IV

£2,695.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George IV English cast sterling silver vinaigrette; an addition to our diverse collectable silverware collection

SKU C8520

This exceptional antique George IV cast sterling silver vinaigrette is realistically modelled in the form of a cornucopia.

The cast silver horn-shaped cornucopia container is encompassed with bands of ribbed decoration, accented with a spiralling terminal.

The rim of the horn is further embellished with a cast leaf decorated border.

The upper portion of the horn is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover embellished with an embossed and chased floral bouquet design.

The cover opens to reveal the original hinged grille and gilt interior.

The gilded grille is ornamented with a bright cut engraved and pierced decorated scrolling leaf design.

This exceptional 19th century vinaigrette in sterling silver suspends from the original round link chain, via anchor points to the rim and spiralling lower terminal.

This antique silver vinaigrette is the finest example of its type you could hope to acquire.

Maker: S Pemberton & Son (Strong Probability)

Date: 1828

This George IV silver vinaigrette is an exceptional gauge of silver and is in exceptional quality.

The cast, embossed and chased decoration is very sharp; this unusual example has seen little to no use and is in an unused condition.

Full hallmarks to the rim of the vinaigrette are all very clear; the maker's mark is poorly struck as has been determined as S Pemberton & Son.

Reflections in photographs may detract from this fine 19th century vinaigrette in sterling silver.
