Sterling Silver and Mahogany Coasters - Antique Circa 1820

£1,995.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique English sterling silver coasters; part of our silver wine related collection

SKU C8592

These exceptional antique sterling silver coasters have a circular rounded form.

Each coaster is encompassed with an embossed fret band and a gadroon border to the foot.

The upper rim of each coaster is ornamented with an applied gadroon decorated border.

The antique coasters are fitted with fine and impressive turned mahogany bases, embellished with the original silver buttons to the centre comprising a circular cartouche encircled with petal designs; the addition of the petals is an unusual and desirable feature.

Each cartouche bears the contemporary engraved crest depicting a unicorn's head erased.

These sterling silver coasters are fitted with green baize to the underside.

These coasters have been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as sterling silver.

Maker: Unknown

Date: Circa 1820

Origin: England

These impressive mahogany coasters with sterling silver are an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition.

The nature of these coasters dictates the location of the hallmarks to the rim of the base. In many extant coasters, because of this, the hallmarks may become very worn and illegible.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these drink related antiques.
