The brooch has a rounded rectangular form, ornamented with a scrolling leaf decorated border.
The surface of the brooch is embellished with twenty impressive seed pearls.
The pearls are encompassed with a band of impressive black hot enamel bearing the elucidating wording 'In Memory Of'.
The centre of the brooch is ornamented with further black enamel incorporating a scrolling foliate design accented with a blue enamel decorated buds and floral motifs.
The posterior of this exceptional Victorian brooch is ornamented with the contemporary engraved inscription 'Richardson Borradaile Esqr Obt 18, May, 1835, at 73'.
The brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and clasp.
