Indian Silver and Hoof Inkwell - Antique Circa 1890

This exceptional antique Indian silver inkwell has been mounted on a water buffalos hoof.

This antique inkwell is encompassed with a fine and impressive silver mount embellished with chased decoration reproducing the features of the buffalo's fur.

The inkwell is fitted with a plain, flush hinged hallmarked cover surmounted with an elevated escutcheon supported by a curved bracket and displaying a chased decorated ornament modelled in the form of a head of a water buffalo.

The cover opens to reveal the removable glass ink liner.
