Luen Wo

Luen Wo was a very important retail silversmith based in Shanghai, operating from 42 Nanking Road. Luen Wo traded in jewellery, gemstones and embroideries. The company matched the high standards of other firms such as the Cantonese firm Wang Hing, and utilised the skills of designs such as Ning Zhao Ji.

The firm predominately produced traditional Chinese items incorporating iconic motifs such as bamboo leaves, blossoms, chrysanthemums and dragons. After 1880 he is recorded making Peranakan-style pieces.
