The surface of the ceramic body has a textured finish reflecting the iconic style of Royal Doulton.
The upper portion of this antique match striker retains the original, detachable plain hallmarked sterling silver mount.
The underside the body bears the Royal Doulton backstamp*, in addition to the registration number '5435'.
By virtue of its size and weight, this versatile match striker could be utilised as a paperweight.
Such large examples are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
* This mark was used to celebrate the grant of the Royal Warrant to Doulton in 1901 by King Edward VII and incorporated the word 'England' until the 1920s.
