£2,250.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive, large antique Victorian English sterling silver coffee pot; an addition to our silver teaware collection

SKU A2310

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver coffee pot has a panelled baluster form onto a circular spreading foot.

The upper portion of the body is embellished with flat chased latice work and interlacing, scrolling, stylised leaf designs accented with leaf motifs.

The ornamentation to the front panel and either side of this large coffee pot incorporates a scroll bordered shaped oval vacant cartouche.

This Victorian coffee pot retains the original hallmarked domed panelled hinged cover embellished with further flat chased scrolling leaf and lattice work designs.

The cover is surmounted by a fluted bun shaped carved wood and sterling silver topped finial.

The Victorian silver coffee pot has an exceptional large carved ribbed handle with an impressive scrolling thumbpiece and fitted to impressive sterling silver chased stylised scrolling leaf decorated sockets and terminals.

This Victorian coffee pot has an impressive swan necked spout with an unusual fluted and scroll decorated shaped socket.

The initials within the maker's marks, in addition to the standardisation of the surround could pertain to a multitude of antique silversmiths; these silvermsiths include William Eaton, Edwards, Ellerby and Eley II.

Maker: Unknown

Date: 1838

This antique coffee pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The interior of the coffee pot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

There is some crazing to the fine and impressive handle in keeping with age.

There is a small crack down one side of the wooden finial which does not affect the integrity of the piece.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the coffee pot and part hallmarks to the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Victorian silverware.
