Sterling Silver Epergne - Antique George V (1919)

£2,195.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver epergne; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection

SKU A8548

This exceptional antique George V sterling silver epergne has a plain, tapering conical form with a flared rim onto circular spreading base.

This antique silver epergne/centrepiece is comprised of a central scrolling frame accented with three sterling silver scrolling arms; the central support and the arms terminate with circular receivers.

The main holder and each of the three circular receivers retain the original hallmarked circular tapering flutes; the central flute is larger than the supporting three.

The rims of these antique vessels are encompassed with an impressive applied gadroon decorated border to the rim.

The flutes are further ornamented with drop style terminals.

Maker: Thomas Latham and Ernest Morton

Date: 1919

This antique sterling silver epergne is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Each component has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the foot and part hallmarks to each flute are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique silverware.
