This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver silver flatware set for eighteen persons has been crafted in the Lily pattern.
The blade of each knife has a broad incurved shaped form and the forks have four tines.
The surface of the fork drops and the knife blades are each embellished with impressive pierced and engraved decoration, incorporating a fish motif amongst paralleling scrolling leaf designs.
The surface of each fork and knife handle is ornamented with the classic Lily pattern ornamentation, including a curvilinear organic design to the border and terminal; often this style of handle will be filled, however these are solid sterling silver.
Twelve places of this exceptional fish knife and fork set are fitted to a hinged oak wood presentation box with a velvet and satin lined interior, in addition to brass fittings.
The interior of the cover bears the retailer's mark 'Successor to Kirk & Co, Wainwrights, 7 Parker St, Liverpool'.
The further six place settings are supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduces tarnishing.
