Sterling Silver Presentation Bowl - Antique George V (1913)

This magnificent antique George V sterling silver, large silver bowl has a plain circular bulbous rounded form onto a circular domed spreading foot.

The surface of the body is encircled with exceptional chased undulating fruiting vine ornamentation, all on a matte background.

The plain upper portion of the bowl is encircled with a flared border with a scalloped shaped rim.

This large silver decorative bowl is fitted with two exceptional cast and applied handles each modelled in the form of a lioness; each feline grasps the rim of the bowl with their front paws and is supported to the lower portion with the hind quarters and tail, in junction with the fruiting vine ornamentation.

The domed portion of the circular foot is encompassed with further chased ornamentation reflecting the design to the body.

The chased and cast decoration is all very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the curved surface of the flared rim are not as defined as expected, but remain clear and legible.
