This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver scent bottle has been realistically modelled in the form of a cylindrical cracker.
This exceptional and unusual bottle is embellished with impressive pin struck and bright cut engraved floral decoration, accented with a lozenge cartouche displaying a stylised female portrait.
The piece retains the original hallmarked hinged cover to the unusual silver scent bottle, securing with a push fit catch.
The opposing end of the vessel is fitted with a hallmarked screw fit cover embellished with decoration reflecting that of the scent bottle cover.
This scent bottle retain the original gilding to either end; the surface bears traces of the original gilding.
This exceptional example of Victorian silverware bears a 'lozenge mark' which certifies the patent of this piece on 10th May 1879 with the UK Patent Office.
