Sterling Silver Three Piece Tea Service - Art Nouveau Style - Antique George V (1917)

£1,535.00

A fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver three piece tea service in the Art Nouveau style; an addition to our antique teaware collection

SKU A2511

This fine antique George V sterling silver three piece tea set/service consists of a teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl.

Each piece of this fine set has been crafted in the Art Nouveau style with a circular compressed rounded form onto three hoof feet.

The surface of each piece has a planished finish.

The domed hinged hallmarked cover of the teapot retains the original bun shaped painted wood and silver finial.

This teapot is fitted with an impressive and original Art Nouveau style painted wood handle ornamented with bifurcating sterling silver stylised scroll and organic, tulip terminals.

The cream jug is embellished with pendant drop ornamentation to the nadir of the spout.

The antique cream jug and tri-handled sugar bowl are fitted with impressive sterling silver reed decorated angular handles; matching the wood handle to the teapot.

This antique Art Nouveau silver tea set was made by Herbert Edward Barker & Frank Ernest Barker, silversmiths working for Barker Brothers of Chester.

Maker: Herbert Edward Barker & Frank Ernest Barker

Date: 1917

The pieces of this antique Art Nouveau silver tea set are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece and part hallmarks struck to the interior of the cover of the teapot are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Art Nouveau silver teaware.
