This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver tobacco box has a plain oval rounded form.
The underside of this box is embellished with a bright cut engraved stemmed rose, floral and foliate design; this indicates the high quality of the piece, as typically the underside would remain unembellished.
The upper portion of this antique silver tobacco box is encompassed with bright cut engraved scrolling leaf decoration, bead and tiered scalloped borders.
This silver tobacco box retains the original sprung flush hinged hallmarked subtly convex cover, which opens by applying gentle pressure to each side.
The cover is ornamented with impressive bright cut engraved scrolling leaf decoration, incorporating a lozenge shaped cartouche to the centre.
The interior of the box retains the original gilding.
