This exceptional antique George V sterling silver and mother of pearl fruit/dessert service consists of twelve knives and twelve forks.
The blades of the knives have a plain rounded form and the forks each have three tines/prongs.
Each sterling silver component is plain and unembellished; apart from the featured hallmarks.
Each piece of this silver dessert set is fitted with the original, impressive and finely carved mother of pearl handle, accented with vertical flutes and a shell motif to the terminal, all in the Art Deco style.
The knives and forks retain the original hallmarked sterling silver ferrules ornamented with bands of ribbed ornamentation; each ferrule was crafted by the Sheffield silversmith John Biggin in 1911.
Each mother of pearl knife and fork is fitted to the fine and impressive original hinged leatherette presentation box with a lift up lid and lift out tray.
The interior of the box retains the original velvet lining and tray tags.
The blades of the service have been crafted by Harrods Ltd and the interior of the box bears the world famous department store's retailer mark 'Harrods, London SW' to the interior of the cover.
