Sterling Silver and Mother of Pearl Fruit Fork - Antique George III

£995.00

A fine antique Georgian English sterling silver and mother of pearl handled fruit fork; an addition to our diverse flatware collection

SKU A3019

This antique George III English sterling silver fruit fork has two tines/prongs.

The fork blade is embellished with engraved simplified floral and leaf designs, in addition to the featured lion passant and duty mark.

The hinged blade of this antique fruit fork pivots and is contained within the handle.

Either side of the original ribbed mother of pearl handle is ornamented with inset bright cut engraved navette and heart-shaped panels.

This impressive example of antique silverware features no maker's mark; the maker is therefore unknown.

Maker: Unmarked

Date: Circa 1810

This antique fruit fork is a very good gauge of silver, very good quality and in excellent condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is crisp, in keeping with age.

The lion passant and duty mark struck to the surface of the blade are clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Georgian flatware.

Length 13.5cm/5.25"

Length of handle 7.5cm/3"

Length of fork 6cm/2.3"
