This stunning, fine and impressive pearl brooch has been crafted in 18ct yellow with 18ct white gold settings.
The brooch has been modelled in the form of a stylised oyster shell with an emanating foliate seaweed style spray.
The subtly open, offset oyster shell is embellished with three cultured pearls of varying sizes.
The undulating foliate designs incorporate three alternating 18ct white gold settings, incorporating forty-two pavé set Dutch cut diamonds, totalling 0.75ct.
The oyster shell and the leaves have a naturalistic, textured finish.
The brooch secures to the reverse via a hinged pin and clasp with a safety catch.
This oyster shell brooch with pearls in gold is hallmarked to the interior of the setting with the Portuguese maker's mark, domestic gold mark (cat's head, minimum 800 standard) and rooster mark*.
This stunning brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18 carat gold.
NOTE:* The nature of the hallmark surround determines that the piece was processed in the Lisbon Assay Office, and the rooster mark was added during the assembly process to ensure the full hallmarks were included upon completion. The rooster/cat marks were jointly used between 1938-1984; this in addition to the composition of the brooch determines the piece to be crafted circa 1950.
