The original blown glass body is embellished with floral and scrolling leaf decoration.

The plain lower portion of this American silver hip flask is fitted with the original hallmarked push fit sterling silver beaker.

The beaker is ornamented with an applied moulded border to the incurved shaped rim.

The underside of the drinking vessel incorporates the volume marker '3/8 Pint'.

The hallmarks struck to the underside of this impressive flask include:

Maker's mark: G (Gorham Manufacturing Company)

This American flask has been tested for watertightness and is ready for use.

To ensure this antique silver hip flask remains water tight, the cork should be moist and therefore fully expanded to provide an effective seal.

There are two recommended methods to ensure that the cork does not dry out and shrink:

Method One: Keep fluid in the flask at all times, and keep the flask on its side to ensure the cork remains wet.

Method Two: Fill the flask to the brim with fluid and close. Leave it like this overnight, or for 24 hours if possible, before use.

Date: 1897

The mount and beaker of this American silver hip flask are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The antique hip flask has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The original blown glass is in perfect condition.

The American, Gorham hallmarks struck to the underside of the beaker are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of silverware.
