The plain glass cylindrical body is surmounted with an impressive detachable wafer box; it can be determined by the nature of this piece that this glass vessel will have been utilised for wine.
The silver box is encircled with the impressive engraved decoration incorporating the wording 'Angus Dei Miserere Nobis - Lamb of God, have mercy upon is'.
The conical cover of the wafer box bears a plain finial and is encompassed with an engraved zig-zag decorated border to the lower portion.
The glass container surmounts an impressive circular silver gilt paten.
The plateaued border of the paten is embellished with further engraved zig-zag decoration, replicating that of the wafer box cover.
The surface of each piece retains the original gilding.
This antique travelling communion set is fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with velvet and satin interior, securing with a push fit.
