An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver tea caddy and spoon; an addition to our silver teaware collection

This exceptional antique George V sterling silver tea caddy has circular rounded form.


The surface of this fine silver tea caddy box is plain encircled with three applied moulded girdles.


This antique tea caddy retains the original hallmarked domed hinged cover surmounted with the original cast sterling silver ball style finial.


The cover secures to the anterior edge with the original hallmarked hinged clasp, accented with an impressive pierced decorated cut card floriated design to the fastening; this is a fine feature and indicates the high quality of the piece.


The caddy is fitted with two impressive suspended loop ring handles.


This exceptional tea caddy retains the original matching caddy spoon.


The handle terminal of the spoon reflects the identical pierced decorated floriated design to that of the hinged catch.


Such examples with the original, matching caddy spoon are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.


This impressive sterling silver tea caddy and spoon were crafted by the renowned silversmith Reid & Sons, and the underside of the box bears the retailer's mark 'Reid & Sons, Newcastle on Tyne'.


Date: 1914

This antique silver tea caddy box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The pieces have been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the caddy and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover, in addition to the full hallmarks to the reverse of the spoon, are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this impressive example of antique silver teaware.
