This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver and cut glass claret/lemonade jug has a tapering cylindrical form graduating to a tapering square shaped base.
The cylindrical neck is fitted with a fine sterling silver, hallmarked mount with the original hallmarked hinged cover incorporating a plain plateaued thumbpiece.
The neck of this antique claret jug is embellished with ribbed glass ornamentation.
The body of the antique glass lemonade jug retains the original broad hallmarked mounts fitted with an elongated C shaped sterling silver handle.
These mounts each feature a hinge to the opposing surface to the handle; these decorative hinges were originally used in the crafting process.
The glass body of the jug is embellished with exceptional subdivided panels of hobnail style cut glass ornamentation accented with geometric motifs to the incurves.
The glass vessel of this exceptional claret jug is further ornamented with a faceted star motif to the underside.
