This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver and horn jug has a cylindrical tapering form.
The cylindrical neck is fitted with a fine and impressive plain sterling silver hallmarked mount with an impressive scalloped border with a pierced circular motif to each incurve.
The mount retains the original hallmarked hinged domed cover surmounted with the original, detachable hallmarked, rounded finial.
The cover is further ornamented with a pierced decorated lobed thumbpiece.
This antique jug is fitted with a plain angular handle with an incurved thumbpiece.
The lower portion of the jug is encircled with an applied plain hallmarked sterling silver rim.
The natural horn body is ornamented with an applied hallmarked sterling silver shield shaped vacant cartouche.
The underside of the jug is fitted with the original circular glass base.
