This antique Victorian sterling silver vesta case has a plain rectangular rounded form.
The surface of this exceptional box is embellished with impressive embossed floral decoration, accented with corresponding foliate designs and fluted motifs emanating from the corners.
The decoration to each side of this antique vesta case bears a heart shaped cartouche; the cartouche to the posterior surface is vacant.
The cartouche to the anterior surface of the vesta case is ornamented with the embossed profile of Queen Victoria*.
This impressive Victorian silver vesta case is fitted with a hinged cover which incorporates a plain thumbpiece to one side and a ring loop attachment to upper portion.
There is an integrated serrated panel/match striker to the underside.
* It can be determined this vesta case was produced as a commemorative piece either at the turn of the century or honouring the end of Queen Victoria's reign.
