These magnificent antique Russian silver candlesticks have a circular rounded form.
The waisted shaped capitals of these exceptional examples of antique 1890s silverware are embellished with fine and impressive cloisonné scrolling foliate designs and geometric motifs using various tones of blue, red and white sections of polychrome enamel, all on a matte background.
The plain fixed sconces/drip pan of each Russian candlestick is fitted with a detachable hallmarked candle sleeve.
The capitals are supported by shaped columns incorporating a circular knop to the upper portion embellished with oval bead designs incorporating white enamel decoration.
The domed portion of the foot of each candlestick is further embellished with scrolling leaf and floral decoration, reflecting the same tones of cloisonné enamel as that to the capital.
The enamel decorated cylindrical portion of the base incorporates rosette designs and is supported by four impressive cast silver feet, accented with scrolling leaf decoration.
The domed undersides of these antique candlesticks are further embellished with polychrome cloisonné enamel, reflecting that of the bases; this indicates the high quality of the candle holders.
The hallmarks struck to the underside of the sleeve, foot and sconce of each candlestick include:
