This exceptional and large antique sterling silver biscuit box has a plain cylindrical form.
The surface of this Victorian biscuit barrel is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest displaying a coat of arms depicting a sinister hand couped with a motto below a griffin's head erased.
The box is fitted with a plain hallmarked hinged circular cover, surmounted with a central plain oval hallmarked ring loop handle.
The unusual hinge features a triangular socket in junction with the body, in addition to a rectangular socket to the posterior surface of the cover.
This antique sterling silver biscuit box is fitted with a hinged hallmarked catch secured with a push fit pin connected via a link safety chain.
