This exceptional antique silver cream jug has a rounded helmet shaped form.
The lower portion of the body is embellished with a bright cut engraved cartouche to either side; one side incorporates the contemporary bright cut engraved initials 'IMS', the other remains vacant.
The upper portion is encompassed with a convex band of bright cut engraved floral and foliate ornamentation accented with stylised pine cone designs, all flanked with pin struck border.
The flared rim is ornamented with an applied gadroon decorated border.
This impressive example of antique silverware is fitted with an angular handle ornamented with fluted and scroll decoration.
The cream jug is supported by a collet style base encompassed with a bright cut engraved undulating border, with a ball style foot to each rounded corner.
The interior of the sterling silver cream jug retains the original gilding.
