Sterling Silver Frog Condiment Set - Vintage (1972)

£4,950.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Elizabeth II English sterling silver three piece frog condiment set made by Richard Comyns of William Comyns & Sons Ltd; part of our 1970s silver dining silverware

SKU C7897

This exceptional vintage cast sterling silver three piece condiment set consists of a salt pot, a pepper pot and a mustard pot.

Each piece has been realistically modelled in the form of a frog.

The body of each piece of this vintage condiment set is embellished with details reproducing the frog's anatomical features and skin.

The fine mustard pot retains the original hallmarked flush hinged cover/head; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of the piece.

The mustard pot retains the original spoon, with a plain fork-tongue decorated terminal.

Both the salt cellar and pepper pot are ornamented to the pot of the head with corresponding pierced holes.

The exceptional salt and pepper shakers are fitted with the original stoppers to the underside.

Each silver frog is further ornamented with the original bead eyes.

The items will have been crafted in the same year but due to the hallmarking system, the condiment containers are struck with the date letter 'r' and the mustard spoon bears the date letter 'q'.

This exceptional novelty silver frog condiment set was crafted by the renowned London silversmith Richard Comyns of William Comyns & Sons Ltd.

Date: 1972

The pieces of this novelty silver frog condiment set are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Each component has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The cast decoration is all very sharp.

Full hallmarks to the surface of each piece and the reverse of the mustard spoon, in addition to part hallmarks to each cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of vintage silverware.
