This exceptional antique William IV sterling silver gilt vinaigrette has been realistically modelled in the form of a purse.
The surface of this antique vinaigrette is embellished with bright cut engraved decoration replicating the details of the trellis pattern textile design.
The anterior surface is further ornamented with a central vacant cartouche.
The subtly rounded underside and sides of the box are embellished with an engraved undulating wrigglework decorated border.
This impressive box is fitted with an articulated rope twist decorated strap.
The case is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover, embellished with engraved leaf decoration.
The cover opens to allow access to the hinged pierced decorated gilt grille.
This exceptional example of 19th century silverware retains the original gilding.
