This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped stem and circular spreading foot.
The anterior surface of the goblet is ornamented with an engraved stylised floral and foliate bordered cartouche bearing the contemporary engraved inscription 'Presented by Sir David Radcliffe, Mayor of Liverpool. To the Band of the 18th Lanc R Vols, for services rendered to the Queen on the 11th & 12th May 1886 and for plating in Band Contest at the Exhibition July 31st 1886'.
The upper portion of this exceptional example of Victorian silverware is encompassed with bright cut engraved foliate motif ornamentation, accented with paralleling scalloped borders.
The pedestal stem is embellished with moulded decoration to the knop.
The foot of this antique silver goblet is plain and unembellished, with a moulded border to the rim.
The underside of the hallmarked foot bears the retailer's mark 'Fecit T. R. Russell, 18 Church St, Liverpool'.
