Sterling Silver Golf Club Table Lighter - Antique George V (1913)

£1,755.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive, unusual antique George V English sterling silver table lighter modelled in the form of a golf club head; an addition to our sports related silverware collection

SKU A9438

This exceptional antique sterling silver lighter has been realistically modelled in the form of a golf club's head.

This antique silver table lighter has been ornamented with engraved decoration reproducing the textured details of the face of the club head; the posterior surface is plain and unembellished.

The anterior surface of this novelty silver golf club lighter retains the original detachable hallmarked taper holders, ornamented with golf ball terminals.

The plain cylindrical tapering hosel bears the original reed decorated screw fit cover; once removed this allows access to the wick.

The weighted base / sole of this impressive and unusual piece is fitted with the original leatherette covering.

Maker: George Neal & George Neal

Date: 1913

This impressive antique silver golf club lighter is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the lower portion of the hosel and part hallmarks to each taper holder shaft are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver, however due to age and location the maker's mark as partial wear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique silverware.
