The surface of this fine example of Georgian silverware is embellished with bright cut engraved swags to the lower portion, below pierced decorated lozenge designs incorporating further bright cut engraved motifs.

The upper portion of the is ornamented with pierced decorated stylised leaf designs.

The rim of the body and foot are ornamented with an applied bead decorated border.

Maker: Untraced Maker's Mark

Date: 1809

This antique sterling silver sugar basket with liner is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

There is a slight loss to the rim of the blue glass line; this does not affect the integrity of the piece or detract from its aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the foot and lion passant to the handle are all very clear; the second portion of the maker's mark is poorly struck.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Georgian silverware.
