A magnificent, fine and impressive pair of antique George III English sterling silver sauce tureens; an addition to our Georgian silverware collection

These magnificent antique George III sterling silver sauce tureens have a rectangular rounded form.


The body of each tureen is plain and embellished with chased fluted decoration to the lower portion.


The upper rim of each body is encompassed with a cast and applied gadroon decorated border.


These impressive antique silver tureens retain the original hallmarked push fit covers ornamented with further chased decoration to the domed portion.


The covers are surmounted with an impressive reed decorated handle enveloped with leaf designs to the terminals.


Each example of Georgian silverware is fitted with two cast silver reed decorated handles, ornamented with lion mask terminals in junction with the body.


Each tureen is supported by four impressive cast silver shaped legs with paw feet.


These magnificent Georgian silver tureens, crafted by the renowned and important silversmiths Benjamin Smith II & James Smith III, are the finest of their type you could hope to acquire.

These antique Georgian silver tureens are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each tureen, in addition to the part hallmarks to the rim of each cover and surface of the finials are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
