Sterling Silver and Tortoiseshell Trinket / Jewellery Box - Antique George V (1912)

This fine antique George V sterling silver and tortoiseshell jewellery box has a plain oval form.

The surface of the body and sides of the cover are plain and unembellished.

This antique jewellery box is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover incorporating an impressive tortoiseshell panel ornamented with a silver piqué work ribbon bow accented with mother of pearl holly leaf terminals.

The cover is encompassed with an impressive applied ribbed border accented with simplified floral and leaf motifs.

The body is supported by four simplified hoof style feet.

The silver and tortoiseshell box is fitted with the original satin lined interior.

The weighted base retains the original leatherette to the underside.

This antique silver and tortoiseshell box is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The tortoiseshell is in perfect condition.

The applied decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body and part hallmarks to the cover are all very clear.
