These exceptional antique George II cast sterling silver candlesticks have a plain classical English four shell form.
The plain cylindrical capital of each taper candlestick is encircled with a plain moulded girdle and borders.
The upper portion of the waisted shaped column features a panelled quatrefoil shaped knop embellished with lobed shell designs to each corner.
Each column is further ornamented with a plain circular knop to the lower portion encompassed with further moulded decoration.
These decorative columns surmount quatrefoil incurved shaped bases embellished with four shell ornamentation, in addition to the engraved crest of a mural crown surmounted with a lion statant regardant.
These antique Georgian sterling silver taper candle holders do not have weighted bases, and bear the contemporary engraved initials 'IWM' to the underside.
