This fine vintage Indian colonial silver pint mug has a plain tapering cylindrical form.

The surface of this fine example of vintage silverware is embellished with an impressive bright cut engraved crest depicting an armoured Rolls Royce and motto 'Per Ardua Stabilis Esto'* - Steadfast Through Adversity.

The aforementioned heraldic markings are displayed above the engraved presentation inscription 'Reunion Dinner, 20th July 1946, Pte J.F.W.Irwin'.

This Indian mug is fitted with a plain rounded C shaped handle.

This impressive silver mug retains the original gilt interior.

The underside of the mug is fitted with the original circular glass base.

The hallmarks struck to the body of this mug include:

Maker's mark: H&Co Ld, elephant icon (Hamilton & Co.)

This vintage Indian colonial silver and glass mug is an unusual example of its type.

* This motto may have a potential connection with the 2nd Calcutta Battalion which had armed motor vehicles. The motto is also that of the original Seal of Calcutta.

**The date letter K can refer to either 1946 or 1971 but the information within the presentation inscription determines the date as 1946.

Date: 1946

This vintage Indian colonial silver and glass mug is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The engraved decoration is very crisp.

The Indian hallmarks struck to the surface are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of vintage silverware.
