Irish Sterling Silver Serving Tongs - Antique George III (1808)

£1,395.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Georgian Irish sterling silver serving tongs; an addition to our silver flatware collection

SKU C6203

These exceptional antique George III Irish silver asparagus/serving tongs have a plain undulating form.

The surface of these 19th century silver asparagus tongs are plain and unembellished, apart from the bridge which displays a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a stag's head.

The pinching action of the tongs is guided to the medial point with a rectangular brace secured to one side with two screw fitments.

The elongated blades of the tongs have an undulating surface to the interior.

Maker: Samuel Neville

Date: 1808

These antique 19th century silver tongs are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The Irish hallmarks struck to the interior surface of the bridge are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique silverware.
