Newcastle Sterling Silver Rum Decanter Label / Bottle Ticket - Antique George III

£995.00

A fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver rum decanter label / bottle ticket made in Newcastle; an addition to our wine and drinks silverware collection

SKU A3415

This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label / bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular cut cornered form.

The body is embellished with the engraved inscription 'RUM' to the centre.

The antique decanter label is suspended from two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain.

This fine example of Georgian silverware has been crafted by the Newcastle maker Thomas Watson but assayed in London; this was an occasional practice with smaller items of Newcastle silver, where no town mark was struck.

Maker: Thomas Watson

Date: 1796

This antique sterling silver decanter label is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of the label are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique Georgian silverware.
