Sterling Silver Presentation Spades - Antique Edwardian (1902)

£1,395.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Edwardian English sterling silver presentation spades; an addition to our diverse silverware collection

SKU C6049

These exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver presentation/serving spades have a rounded triangle shaped blade.

The anterior faces of the blades are embellished with the contemporary engraved presentation inscription:

'Presented to Miss Edith S Taylor by Aldn Chancellor, Mayor of Chelmsford, Nov 8th 1902'.

The reverse surface of each blade is plain and unembellished.

These serving spade blades are fitted to cylindrical stems, each terminating with an angular handpiece.

Each handpiece ferrule features bands of applied rope twist decoration.

Date: 1902

These antique sterling silver presentation spades are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The engraved decoration is all very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the stem of each spade are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of Edwardian silverware.

Length 20.3cm/8"

Width of blade 5.5cm/2.2"

5.7 troy ounces/177g
