Sterling Silver and Enamel Vesta Case by Lawrence Emanuel - Antique Victorian (1891)

This exceptional antique Victorian silver vesta case has a plain rectangular form.

The body of the vesta case is ornamented with an impressive rectangular white enamel panel incorporating black script displaying 'Just it up again' segmented with an illustration of a pitchfork; it can be determined this agricultural tool symbolises the word 'dig'.

The case is fitted with a plain hinged cover to one end and has a serrated panel/match striker to the other.

The posterior surface and rounded sides of this impressive Victorian silver vesta case is plain and unembellished.

This Victorian vesta case is a very good gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in excellent condition.

There is a surface blemish near the hinge of the case, this does not detract from the aesthetically pleasing appearance of the piece.

The enamel panel is in perfect condition; there are some surface blemishes in keeping with age.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the case and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear; the first portion of the maker's mark to the posterior surface has wear in keeping with age and location but remains legible.
