This fine antique Victorian sterling silver chamberstick (chamber candlestick) has a plain circular form in the George I style.
The well is plain and unembellished, encompassed with a plain elevated border.
The plain cylindrical capital retains the original detachable hallmarked sconce ornamented with a plain applied moulded border.
This antique chamberstick is fitted with a stylised Trefid pattern handle, embellished with two contemporary bright cut engraved crests of a squirrel sejant eating a nut to the right of an elephant and castle.
The underside of the handle features a decorative rounded socket.
