Sterling Silver Coffee Pot by Robert Garrard II - Antique Victorian

£1,995.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver coffee pot made by Robert Garrard II; an addition to our silver teaware collection

SKU A5082

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver coffee pot has a circular tapering, rounded form.

The body of this Victorian coffee pot is embellished with impressive bright cut engraved stemmed foliate decoration incorporating a large shaped cartouche to either side.

The cartouche to one side is ornamented with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a crane; the other side remains vacant.

This antique coffee pot is fitted with a hallmarked flush hinged cover encircled with further bright cut engraved ornamentation, reflecting that of the design to the body; the flush hinge indicates the fine quality of this piece.

The cover is fitted with the original circular finial, securing to the interior with a wing nut.

This coffee pot retains the original fine and impressive C shaped carved handle featuring a plain scrolling thumbpiece.

The upper portion of the handle is fitted with plain faceted sterling silver socket accented with a lobed terminal in junction with the body.

This fine antique coffee pot is fitted with an impressive swan necked spout featuring further bright cut engraved stemmed foliate decoration.

This Victorian coffee pot was crafted by the renowned London silversmith Robert Garrard II, subsequently R & S Garrard & Co and bears the retailer's mark 'Garrards, Panton Street, London' to the underside.

Date: 1859

This antique coffee pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The interior of the coffee pot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

The bright cut engraved decoration is all very crisp.

The original handle and finial have natural crazing in keeping with age; this does not affect the integrity of the piece.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the coffee pot and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Victorian teaware.
