SKU A6531

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette has a rectangular form with rounded corners.

The cover of this fine Victorian vinaigrette is embellished with Kenilworth Castle in high relief.

The underside of the box is embellished with engraved scrolling leaf decoration incorporating a vacant oval cartouche.

Both the base and cover are embellished with applied scrolling leaf decorated borders.

The hinged silver vinaigrette cover allows access to the original hinged, pierced decorated silver gilt grille.

The vinaigrette retains its original gilding; the interior could be regilded upon request, for further information please contact Andrew Campbell directly.

* The castle, situated in Kenilworth (Warwickshire, England), is a listed building and a Scheduled Monument. This semi-royal palace took many centuries to build and has been expanded significantly since the foundations in the 12th century. Part of the castle was destroyed in the 17th century leaving only two buildings to the present day; rendering this illustration as a memory of a grand structure. The castle became famous from the works of Sir Walter Scott who brought attention to the location during the Victorian period.
