Sterling Silver Vinaigrette - Antique George IV (1822)

£1,145.00

A fine and impressive antique George IV English sterling silver vinaigrette; an addition to our silver boxes collection

SKU A2961

This impressive antique George IV sterling silver vinaigrette has a rounded rectangular form.

The surface of the box is embellished with fine and impressive bright cut engraved modular grid pattern incorporating a vacant zig-zag bordered rectangular cartouche to the centre of the cover.

The hinged silver vinaigrette cover is fitted with a plain thumbpiece and allows access to the original hinged, pierced floral and leaf decorated grille.

The interior of the vinaigrette and grille retain the original gilding.

Maker: William Edwards

Date: 1822

This antique vinaigrette is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

Full hallmarks to the interior of the base, and part hallmarks to the cover and the grille are all very clear; the maker's mark is not struck clearly but remains legible.

Reflections in photographs may detract from this fine silver vinaigrette.
